The Annual Congress of the World Association of Cultural Psychiatry was held at Norcia, a quaint little medieval town three hours away from Rome. Sessions were held in chapels, monasteries spread around the town. Norcia is the birth place of St Benedict whose statue in the central piazza is the focal point of the town. It was a beautiful setting for the conference and a wonderful ambiance to ponder over the relevance of cultural issues in psychiatric practice and theory.Thankfully there isn't a MacDonald outlet there yet! _
